English poetry

Forever
by Luvmeluvr
(Puisi Bahasa Inggris tentang "Aku Jatuh Cinta")

I've known you forever,
I've known you four years.
Through so many smiles,
And even more tears.

You accepted me warmly,
You love me so much.
I love your sweet smile,
I love your soft touch.

I love that you love me
The way that I am,
I love that you see me
Like no one else can.

I love that I love you
Like no one before,
I'd love you forever
And still I'd crave more.

I've known you forever,
I've known you four years.
I'll be with you always
Til the end of time nears.

A Story of a Student

Tasks , duties and assignments that may be perceived almost all students in all three levels of the University including myself , especially at the university where I studied Gunadarma it from starting my first semester was presented with a very troublesome task because in each semester must always be lab - lab support for core subjects . Ohh , I almost forgot to introduce iyaa my name , my name Hidalgo Summahadi , I was the first child of 3 brothers and that of course I was the most handsome boy in the family I have my own only boy in the family , because both my sister so women do not there may be a protest if I crowned myself so children most handsome men in my family .

I'm from a small residence in jakarta my education was always in the region of jakarta school , at the age of 3.5 years I 've put into kindergarten , so I entered primary school at the age of 5.5 years maybe I was too fast so my parents entered sekoaholeh even now I am still the youngest in my class , because most of them have older age 1-2 years above me , but I am thankful for having parents who put education at an early age so that at my age this is still relatively young I was there at 6 semster in college where I hope I can graduate on time in order to measure in the ideals and my parents happy .

SD is still time if asked " You 'll want to be when you grow up?? " Anyone who asks for sure the answer is " Doctor " but slowly when asked like that again I may not answer as before because of my education but now was not the direction medicine towards the " Computer Systems " department was that now that I live in one of the private universities in Jakarta . Today may indeed be difficult to find a job but with the knowledge that I can at this point , maybe later I will set up an own company in order to provide jobs for those in need and able to meet the qualifications of the company given that I made later .

Having a hobby certainly got everyone including me , I was thinking about playing games on a small hobby indeed I have been accustomed to playing games ranging from age game boy , nintendo , playstation and games online today . Maybe people think playing games is a hobby that bad but for me playing games can be a place to learn English , why do I say so ? ? because most games use English so inevitably we have to understand the English language so that we can enjoy the game .

In real life it is not hard we just have to be very clever to manage our time when we are very busy , we should not forget to take time for family , friends , job , rest and lover . So I believe we should relax in life but we do have to have to schedule when to relax and when to work .

So a little about my life I hope all of you readers might be inspired as well to share a story about you all .

Styles Of Business Letter

Six letter styles have been established for use in business offices. The two most commonly used of these are the block and semi block styles.

1. Full block
All lines of typing begin on the left hand margin. There are no paragraph indentions. Letters that are typed in the full block style are always single spaced.
Example:
Modern Office Equipment Co. Ltd.
98 – 100 Anna Salai
Cennai – 600002
India
Telephone : 044 26152766
Fax : 044 26152767

6th June 2001

The Manager
ABC Computer Stores
23 North Usman Road
T. Nager
Chennai – 600018
Telephone : 044 26156782
Fax : 044 26156780

Dear Sir,

This style is widely used across the globe. This style does not use any indent at all. Every single line is typed from the left-hand side. Since this style demands less number of keystrokes, this style increases the speed of the typist.

Even for computer typing, this style is more convenient. Note that this style does not use comma after every line in the address. This is also reducing the number keystrokes required. But the proper punctuations are added properly.

Yours faithfully,

2. Block
All lines of typing begin on the left hand margin except the date, the complementary close, and the signature line.
Example:
Justrust Insurance Co. Ltd.
WISWA COMPLEX
456, North Usman Road
T.Nager
Chennai 600008
Telephone : 044 67894520
Fax : 044 67894521

                                                                                            10th November 2009

Miss Linda Nancy
3010 Jalal Street
90, Tamara
Chennai 600012
Telephone : 044 67894871
Fax : 044 67894873

Dear Miss Nancy,

This style is similar to the fully-blocked style. It differs in the positioning of few items. The date is typed on the right-hand side of the page rather than the left-hand side of the page as followed in the fully-blocked style. The subject of the letter and the signature and the name and the designation of the sender are centered.

These modifications give the letter a balanced appearance. However this is not the only way to modify the fully-blocked style. You may want to place other items in different places.

Yours Sincerely,

John McDonald

Marketing Executive

3. Semi block
The first line of each paragraph is indented. Otherwise, the semi block style is exactly like the block style.
Example:
National Limited
191 / N - Patricia Avenue
Liverpool – 600 020
Phone : 0011 - XXXXXXXX
Fax : 0011 - XXXXXXXX

                                                                                                            August, 7th  2012

Mr. Gan Kim Hua,
Manager,
Gan Electrical Appliances Co,
356 Lorong 23/12,
Taman Maju Jaya,
70500 Seremban, N.S.

Dear Mr. Gan,

RE : Order for CD Player

We received your order for 6 sets of the HIVOLTAGE Portable CD Player Model 231 GX. We regret to inform you that the model is at present out of stock as demand has far outstripped supply. Our supplier in Japan has informed us that it will take another 6 months before they can send a new shipment.

However, may we offer an alternative item that seems to have the potential of being a best-seller as well. This is the TRUSOUND Portable CD Machine Model ZXS 10. This retail for Rs. 349.99 and is the latest on the portable CD range. Terms are as usual.

            Thank you.

                                                                          Yours sincerely,

                                                                          Mary Lim
                                                                          Sales Manager

4. AMS Simplified letter
All typing in the Administrative Management Society Simplified Letter begins on the left margin, as in the full block style. This form omits the salutation and the complimentary close.
Example:
Modern Office Equipment Co. Ltd.

98 – 100 Anna Salai
Cennai – 600002
India
Telephone : 044 26152766
Fax : 044 26152767

6th June 2001

The Manager
ABC Computer Stores
23 North Usman Road
T. Nager
Chennai – 600018
Telephone : 044 26156782
Fax : 044 26156780

SIMPLIFIED STYLE

This is another modification of the fully-blocked style. This style is used when you write a letter and you do not know the name and title of the person to whom you are writing the letter. The salutation and the complimentary closing are not used in this style. The subject is mentioned in capital fonts and that subject need not be underlined.

Today around all the business houses, this style is widely used when the writer of the letters does not want to give importance to formality. Since the formality is not adopted here, this style goes to the heart of the addressee. This style gives more importance only to the core matter of the letter.

5. Hanging Indented (Inverted)
The hanging indented style is identical the semi block format except that the first line of each paragraph is typed flush with the left margin and all lines following are indented five spaces. This style is usually seen only in advertising letter, where it’s unique paragraphing catches the eye.

6. Official (Formal or Personal)
The official letter style is usually prepared in either the block or the semi block format. The inside address, however, is located two to five lines below the typed signature line, not at the top of the page. The official letter is used only when writing to highly placed official or to extend congratulation, appreciation, or sympathy.
Example:
National Limited
191 / N - Patricia Avenue
Liverpool – 600 020
Phone : 0011 - XXXXXXXX
Fax : 0011 - XXXXXXXX

Parts of a Business Letter

  • The Heading (The Retern Address) or Letterhead - Companies usually use printed paper where heading or letterhead is specially designed at the top of the sheet. It bears all the necessary information about the organisation’s identity.

  • Date - Date of writing. The month should be fully spelled out and the year written with all four digits October 12, 2005 (12 October 2005 - UK style). The date is aligned with the return address. The number of the date is pronounced as an ordinal figure, though the endings st, nd, rd, th, are often omitted in writing. The article before the number of the day is pronounced but not written. In the body of the letter, however, the article is written when the name of the month is not mentioned with the day.

  • The Inside Address - In a business or formal letter you should give the address of the recipient after your own address. Include the recipient's name, company, address and postal code. Add job title if appropriate. Separate the recipient's name and title with a comma. Double check that you have the correct spelling of the recipient 's name.

The Inside Address is always on the left margin. If an 8 1/2" x 11" paper is folded in thirds to fit in a standard 9" business envelope, the inside address can appear through the window in the envelope.

  • The Greeting - Also called the salutation. The type of salutation depends on your relationship with the recipient. It normally begins with the word "Dear" and always includes the person's last name. Use every resource possible to address your letter to an actual person. If you do not know the name or the sex of of your reciever address it to Dear Madam/Sir (or Dear Sales Manager or Dear Human Resources Director). As a general rule the greeting in a business letter ends in a colon (US style). It is also acceptable to use a comma (UK style).

  • The Subject Line (optional) - Its inclusion can help the recipient in dealing successfully with the aims of your letter. Normally the subject sentence is preceded with the word Subject: or Re: Subject line may be emphasized by underlining, using bold font, or all captial letters. It is usually placed one line below the greeting but alternatively can be located directly after the "inside address," before the "greeting."

  • The Body Paragraphs - The body is where you explain why you’re writing. It’s the main part of the business letter. Make sure the receiver knows who you are and why you are writing but try to avoid starting with "I". Use a new paragraph when you wish to introduce a new idea or element into your letter. Depending on the letter style you choose, paragraphs may be indented. Regardless of format, skip a line between paragraphs.

  • The Complimentary Close - This short, polite closing ends always with a comma. It is either at the left margin or its left edge is in the center, depending on the Business Letter Style that you use. It begins at the same column the heading does. The traditional rule of etiquette in Britain is that a formal letter starting "Dear Sir or Madam" must end "Yours faithfully", while a letter starting "Dear " must end "Yours sincerely". (Note: the second word of the closing is NOT capitalized)

  • Signature and Writer’s identification - The signature is the last part of the letter. You should sign your first and last names. The signature line may include a second line for a title, if appropriate. The signature should start directly above the first letter of the signature line in the space between the close and the signature line. Use blue or black ink.

  • Initials, Enclosures, Copies - Initials are to be included if someone other than the writer types the letter. If you include other material in the letter, put 'Enclosure', 'Enc.', or ' Encs. ', as appropriate, two lines below the last entry. cc means a copy or copies are sent to someone else.

Definition of English Business and Type of English Letter

Definition of English Business

Business English is English language especially related to international trade. It is a part of English for Specific Purposes and can be considered a specialism within English language learning and teaching. Many non-native English speakers study the subject with the goal of doing business with English-speaking countries, or with companies located outside the Anglosphere but which nonetheless use English as a shared language or lingua franca. Much of the English communication that takes place within business circles all over the world occurs between non-native speakers. In cases such as these, the object of the exercise is efficient and effective communication. The strict rules of grammar are in such cases sometimes ignored, when, for example, a stressed negotiator's only goal is to reach an agreement as quickly as possible.

Business English means different things to different people. For some, it focuses on vocabulary and topics used in the worlds of business, trade, finance, and international relations. For others it refers to the communication skills used in the workplace, and focuses on the language and skills needed for typical business communication such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, small talk, socializing, correspondence, report writing, and so on. In both of these cases it can be taught to native speakers of English, for example, high school students preparing to enter the job market.

Type of English Letter
  • Sales Letters

Typical sales letters start off with a very strong statement to capture the interest of the reader. Since the purpose is to get the reader to do something, these letters include strong calls to action, detail the benefit to the reader of taking the action and include information to help the reader to act, such as including a telephone number or website link.
  • Order Letters

Order letters are sent by consumers or businesses to a manufacturer, retailer or wholesaler to order goods or services. These letters must contain specific information such as model number, name of the product, the quantity desired and expected price. Payment is sometimes included with the letter.
  • Complaint Letters

The words and tone you choose to use in a letter complaining to a business may be the deciding factor on whether your complaint is satisfied. Be direct but tactful and always use a professional tone if you want the company to listen to you.
  • Adjustment Letters

An adjustment letter is normally sent in response to a claim or complaint. If the adjustment is in the customer’s favor, begin the letter with that news. If not, keep your tone factual and let the customer know that you understand the complaint.
  • Inquiry Letters

Inquiry letters ask a question or elicit information from the recipient. When composing this type of letter, keep it clear and succinct and list exactly what information you need. Be sure to include your contact information so that it is easy for the reader to respond.
  • Follow-Up Letter

Follow-up letters are usually sent after some type of initial communication. This could be a sales department thanking a customer for an order, a businessman reviewing the outcome of a meeting or a job seeker inquiring about the status of his application. In many cases, these letters are a combination thank-you note and sales letter.
  • Letters of Recommendation

Prospective employers often ask job applicants for letters of recommendation before they hire them. This type of letter is usually from a previous employer or professor, and it describes the sender’s relationship with and opinion of the job seeker.
  • Acknowledgment Letters

Acknowledgment letters act as simple receipts. Businesses send them to let others know that they have received a prior communication, but action may or may not have taken place.
  • Cover Letter

Cover letters usually accompany a package, report or other merchandise. They are used to describe what is enclosed, why it is being sent and what the recipient should do with it, if there is any action that needs to be taken. These types of letters are generally very short and succinct.
  • Letters of Resignation

When an employee plans to leave his job, a letter of resignation is usually sent to his immediate manager giving him notice and letting him know when the last day of employment will be. In many cases, the employee also will detail his reason for leaving the company.
